Chief Instructor

Mindy Imbuido Bio: Mindy Imbuido began her study of Aikido in 1991. Initially she was only able to train twice a week, but as she moved up in rank she started to attend every class she could. This ended up totaling roughly fifteen classes per week. When Imbuido Sensei was fifteen years old she became her Sensei's apprentice. During that two year period she taught classes, assisted her Sensei in his classes and learned the day to day responsibilities involved in operating a dojo. After a few years of hard work and dedication Mindy completed her apprenticeship. During the duration of her training at New School Aikido she earned the ranks of Shodan, Nidan and certified instructor through their system/organization.

A few years later wanting to focus on her higher education, Imbuido Sensei left her home in California and moved to Nevada to attend UNLV. She has trained with several Aikido dojos in Nevada. Mindy frequently attends seminars taught by highly ranked Sensei from all over the United States and Japan. Imbuido Sensei and her dojo Vegas Valley Aikido are proudly affiliated with Aikido Schools Of Ueshiba headed by Mitsugi Saotome Shihan.  Through ASU and Aikikai Hombu dojo she currently holds the rank of Nidan.  Mindy considers herself very fortunate to be influenced by many great teachers of Aikido.  She considers the strongest influences on her aikido to be Mitsugi Saotome Shihan, Wendy Whited Sensei and Tom Haines Sensei.  In September of 2007 with permission from her mentors at Arizona Aikido Mindy and her husband Genrick started Vegas Valley Aikido. She currently conducts class at Black Mountain Recreation Center in Henderson, NV on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:15PM to 7:15PM (Basic class) and 7:30PM to 8:30PM (Intermediate/Advanced class). With her students Imbuido Sensei strives not only to pass on the physical techniques of Aikido, but also stresses the importance of the founder's philosophy which is paramount to understanding the art.  She also puts a very strong emphasis on traditional martial values and etiquette which she believes is being lost.  Although Mindy now teaches Aikido to others she considers herself first and foremost a student of the art. She hopes to keep learning, training and teaching for many years to come.

Assistant Instructors:

Genrick Imbuido Bio:  Genrick Imbuido began his formal study of the martial arts with Aikido in the Fall of 1997 at Aikido of Diablo Valley, Concord, California under the tutelages of Rick Rowell and Shari Dryer. In his youth, Genrick sought to find more physical and competitive means to martial understanding. Genrick spent years following many other martial disciplines, that included; Judo, Danzan Ryu Jujitsu, Shotokan Karate and Kendo. Due to age and many physical injuries Genrick began to deeply contemplate his martial training. He came to the understanding that sport martial arts and lethal combativeness were not the answer to his inquisitions; ranging from philosophical moral dilemmas to social refinement. Genrick had thought it was time to “work on the inside out“. With precepts learned in Aikido, Genrick had diversified into the introspective martial disciplines of Araki Mujinsai Ryu Iaido and Kyudo. Years of this self refined type of training has been intergraded into Genrick’s understanding of martial arts being more than just self defense, but self discipline as well. Genrick is currently an assistant instructor at Vegas Valley Aikido with a Shodan since 2009.

Greg Wilson Bio:  Greg Wilson began his journey in the martial arts starting with Judo in 1962 at the Cahill’s Judo Academy in San Bruno California.  Upon his arrival in the Las Vegas valley in 1978, he began studying Jujitsu where he achieved his Shodan in 1992 and ascended to the rank of Godan and Professor with the Shoshin Ryu Yudanshakai in 2005.   In addition to competing is Judo and Jujitsu tournaments,  he taught Jujitsu to both children and adults for over two decades at the Mirabelli Community Center is Las Vegas, with many of his students competing in national tournaments.

He began his study of Aikido in 1998 as a compliment to his Jujitsu skills.  Over time and 48 years of studying the martial arts, he added a Shodan in Aikido through ASU and Aikikai Hombu dojo to his résumé, earning that ranking 2010.  He is a passionate lifelong student of the martial arts who feels committed to share what he has learned and pass on the spirit and discipline of the martial arts his mentors shared with him.  In his other life, Greg is a CPA and enjoys golfing, cycling, traveling, and reading.
